Well, welcome back after what we hope has been a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas and New Year holiday break!
And welcome back to a fabulous busy and productive time of year in the world of markets and festivals. There is so much happening we can only touch on some of the great events you can head along to but remember you can always keep abreast of things going on by checking in with our Markets and Events Calendar.
So for those who love music festivals now you can be in your element. If you missed Bay Dreams in Mt Maunganui over New Year or the Nelson Jazz Festival don't dispair. You can still be involved this week in the Akaroa Music Festival on from 6-15 January. No ordinary Festival Akaroa provide lessons, masterclasses and concerts in this extended live-in music festival. Otherwise why not revel in the Motueka Country Music Festival or Wairarapa Country Music Festival both on from 13-15 January. One of the main features in Wairarapa this year is the Topp Twins! Or for those in Auckland who love music and the beach head down to Takapuna Beach this Saturday for the Sun and Sound Music Beach Festival!
It's not just about music though with lots of family fun including 8 days of fun, free events at the Paihia Summer Festival. Everything from a beach dig, fishing competition, art pavement drawing, sandcastle competition and lots, lots more on from Sunday 8 to Sunday 15 January.
Or for you fruit lovers why not head along and enjoy the Whakatane Lions Berry Town Festival celebrating the abundance of fabulous berries grown in the region. Not only is this a market packed with delectable stalls but also features the crowning of the Berry Town Festival Queen!
And of course don't forget all your very own capitvating local markets offering foods, crafts and items from your local community, helping your own neighbours to Go Local, Grow Local. Check out markets in your region.
What could be more fun than wandering around your local market. Fresh baking smells, lovingly handcrafted items, each one unique and special, delicious home grown produce - that's what we love and we hope you do too!
